Bloodworks proud to be a Team of Champions

Bloodworks Northwest is honored to be one of the nine organizations recognized in the 2026 Team of Champions — a special program created in partnership between the Seahawks and Boeing to celebrate impactful community leaders like Bloodworks.

“The Team of Champions is an opportunity to really recognize and thank nonprofit organizations for the work they are doing every day to help support our communities,” said Leah Hausman, senior community investor at Boeing.

Seahawks legend Jermaine Kearse visited Bloodworks’ Renton location in August to meet Bloodworks donors, volunteers, and staff, tour the Donor Center and a bloodmobile, and learn more about our lifesaving work.

“I didn’t know too much about donating blood and the process here at Bloodworks,” Kearse said. “You quickly learn how important it is and the process. It’s pretty fascinating.”

“I grew up here, and so any chance I have the opportunity to give back and support all the amazing organizations that do so much in our community, I think is an opportunity that I want to grasp,” Kearse added.

Bloodworks also received recognition at half-time during the Seahawks’ home game on October 11, with employees and guests in attendance.

A storied partnership

Boeing has long been a strong supporter of blood donation, from Bloodworks’ inception in 1944 to the present.

Through decades of blood drives, philanthropy, employee giving, and volunteer leadership, Boeing’s partnership touches every part of that commitment.

  • Blood drives: Boeing employees show up for local patients. Over the past year, Boeing hosted 86 blood drives across Puget Sound, resulting in 1,860 units of blood collected for patients in our community.
  • Philanthropy: Since 2000, the Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound has contributed nearly $500,000 in support of Bloodworks’mission. Their financial support helps us strengthen the programs, equipment, and infrastructure that make blood donation possible and ensure that we can continue meeting the needs of patients across our region. Boeing also matched $3,106 in employee giving last fiscal year, helping employee generosity go even further.
  • Leadership: Kristy Hilden, who retired after more than 25 years with Boeing, currently serves as Chair of Bloodworks’ Board of Trustees, continuing a tradition of Boeing employees investing their time and expertise in our mission.

We are honored to receive this recognition and proud to be part of a community that shows up for one another.
