Grateful for friends like the Seattle Seahawks and you

Our community is in an unprecedented time. COVID-19 has upended our daily lives, routines, and sense of well-being and struck at the heart of our blood supply. The closure of schools, colleges, and businesses severely impacted people’s ability to donate blood and put 60% of our precious blood supply in danger of collapse. But, then like it always does, our extraordinary community rose up and into our donor centers to restock our shelves! Humble heroes who are giving back to the community and saving lives.

Recently, a handful of Seahawks staff members joined by Seahawks Dancers Erika and Jon, visited Bloodworks to donate blood and encourage people to come donate. Watch how they’re asking the community to lend an arm:

We don’t know how long COVID-19 will be here, but we do know we still need you. Donating blood is an essential activity under stay-at-home orders. Our greatest need now is for donors to keep appointments and commit to future appointments. Blood is perishable which means it’s even more important for donors to pre-book their April, May, and June donations now to meet the transfusion needs that are coming.

Donating blood is a safe, direct action you can taketo help our community get through this crisis. Bloodworks policies comply with all FDA, CDC, local health departments, and other applicable recommendations related to COVID-19, and we have shifted to welcoming scheduled appointments only at all Bloodworks donor centersand have paused all mobile drives for the time being to ensure adequate social distancing. Also, children under 16 will, for now, not be permitted on-site. These new measures ensure a safe, controlled environment for all donors and staff. Information for donors about coronavirus is available at bloodworksnw.org/coronavirus.
